Q - Will my bow fit in Bowkaddy?
A - The 2015 Bowkaddy model will work with >99% of every hunting bow that's ever been made, including compound, recurve, long and crossbows. In the majority of situations, the swing arms can be secured in place by inserting the pin in one of the pre-drilled holes in the main support arm. In some cases, a customized hole or two may be required to accommodate certain limb geometries or if a symmetric fit is desired. In these cases, refer to FAQ #2 below. In only a few known cases involving very long ATA bows will it be necessary to keep one or both swing arm pins positioned outside the main support arm. The bows that are known currently to fall into this category are the Mathews No-Cam HTR, Hoyt Nitrum 34 and the Elite Synergy. These bows will still fit in Bowkaddy and the overall mount will be secure when the bow is inserted, but the swing arms will not be secured in position when the bow is removed.
The original Bowkaddy will fit most conventional shaped compound bows with the pin positioned in the slot or one of the pre-existing holes of the main support arm, providing maximum stability. In some cases, a customized hole or two may be required to accommodate certain limb geometries or if a symmetric fit is desired. In these cases, refer to FAQ #2 below. For bows with long risers (parallel limb and some recurves), it may be necessary to fully extend and rotate the swing arms so that one or both pins fall outside the main support arm. In this case, the rubber washer compressed between the arms will provide sufficient friction to keep the arms stationary while inserting and removing the bow (Mathews Switchback example). If you own a Mathews Z7, Hoyt AlphaMax 35 or other bow with similar geometry, you'll need to use an Extender Brace to make the original Bowkaddy work for you. Q - If I need to drill extra holes in the main support arm to fit my bow, how do I do this?
A -If extra holes are required in the main support arm, the following procedure must be followed:
1. Align the limbs of the bow with the Bowkaddy grips such that the swing arms are symmetrically positioned.
2. Determine and mark the position of the holes in the
main support arm. With the 2015 Bowkaddy model, the
Hole Template can be used to do this.
Q - I'm having some difficulty getting the ATV Bracket to tighten securely to my quad rack. What can I do?
A - There are a few key considerations in getting KBA to tighten securely to your ATV rack:
- The point of contact between the J-bolt and the tube must be as illustrated in the Product Sheet.
- The open side of the J-bolt must be in the same direction as the KBA bend.
- If you own an ATV Bracket
manufactured prior to 2015, and it won't quite fit around
the metal tubes of the ATV rack, it will be necessary to
open the bend in the ATV Bracket slightly to allow it to
wrap around the larger rack members. This is
easily accomplished by using a crescent wrench or bench
vice. Be careful not to widen the opening too far as
this will cause metal fatigue in the bracket and possible
Q - Can Bowkaddy be mounted to a Polaris ATV even though it does not have a metal rack?
A - Yes. Bowkaddy can be direct fastened to the plastic rack of Polaris four-wheelers. Note that this typically means drilling holes in the plastic and the possible addition of a reinforcement plate (plywood, metal or other rigid material) on the underside of the rack. For a couple model years, Polaris included a set of parallel metal strips on the front rack. Q - As an archery retailer, how do I get set up for selling Bowkaddy and its accessories?

A -No. Bowkaddy is designed to substantially reduce the effects of vehicular vibration on the bow. When installed on a pickup or ATV, Bowkaddy alone boasts 4 separate rubberized contact points that serve to dampen vibration between the vehicle and the bow. These include the two rubber grips which hold the bow limbs and the two rubber washers sandwiched between the main support arm and each swing arm. If Kaddy Bracket ATV is used, vibration is further dampened by another 3 separate rubberized contact points, for a total of 7.
Q - Does Bowkaddy work with crossbows?
A -Yes. Bowkaddy provides excellent support for the limbs of a crossbow. The stock must be independently supported by a rifle mount such as the Kolpin Gun Grip II (available on the Purchase page of this website). Q - Does Alaris Concepts have a bow rack for mountain bikes?
A- The UTV Bracket can easily be adapted for installation on the rear forks of most mountain bikes. Essentially, the metal bracket is fastened diagonally against the upper and lower fork tubes on one side of the rear wheel using aftermarket U-bolts. With Bowkaddy bolted to the top end of the bracket, the bow is positioned conveniently behind the driver and in line with the direction of travel. This minimizes the risk of catching branches along the trail and knocking your sight/rest out of alignment. Q - Is the Bowkaddy Bow Kover considered a legal encasement in Ontario?
A -Ontario legislation requires that a bow be "encased" during transport outside of legal hunting hours. Early comments voiced by members of the Ontario hunting community including enforcement personnel indicated that the Bowkaddy Bow Kover would meet the intent of the regulations. Following some speculative opinions, however, I decided to seek a more definitive answer from Mr. David Critchlow, Provincial Enforcement Specialist of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. His conclusion was that the Bowkaddy Bow Kover "is close to meeting the technical requirements of the legislation". The quivered side of the bow is adequately encased, even though the arrows protrude from an opening, since there is no requirement to encase the arrows themselves. The opposite side of the Bow Kover would be considered adequately encased if a material "flap" was affixed to the cover and spanned the central opening. This after-market modification could be made of any reasonable material and fastened with velcro or snaps. Alternatively, the Bowkaddy Full Kover could be used as it is considered legal encasement.
A -The OHV (off-highway vehicle) regulations stipulate that the hard or soft case must not have any open ends or sides. As such, the original Bow Kover would not be considered legal on ATV's or UTV's since it does not completely enclose the bow. However, it can be legally used on bikes and boats, which are not considered OHV's. The Bowkaddy Full Kover, on the other hand, is considered legal encasement in all situations.
